Ted and Kelly – I want to thank you for the magical week that you led here at Anamaya.  The week completely surpassed my expectations.  The two of you are an inspiration both on and off the mat, specifically Kelly, I so admire your ability to navigate an entire classroom into both humor & spirituality in the same breath – very few people in this world can command the attention and respect of an audience as you do.  And Ted – your decision to check ego at the door and support and love your partner as an equal is ultimate relationship goals.

  This week has been so meaningful for me on three levels, which I care to share with you as you have been present in all them. 1) the community of people-both of you foster such a welcoming environment, whether its through your morning spiritual readings or your explanations of physical poses for various levels- people talk all the time of “safe” space on the mat and I never really understood that until here.  I feel like I have “my people” here in the yoga community, and no doubt that the two of you led the tone. 2) Appreciation for the vast world that is yoga- you have opened my eyes to the world of yoga which is new to me as of 2018.  As a logic-based person, I really connect with your explanations of poses (opening the chakras) or items (rose absolute for the heart) and you have piqued my curiosity in learning more (currently now reading Power of Now) so thank you for pointing me in that direction.  Finally, 3) Acceptance of myself-the most personal impact off this week is the deeper understanding of my own person-your Ayurveda workshop led me to see how imbalance in the body could explain our actions or it was just “in my nature” to plan things.  Conscientiousness (yikes-spelling) can help right all of these imbalances.

  Should you ever choose to live stream/record your classes, I would love to participate!  Thank you for leading such a magical, unforgettable week for me- you truly have a gift.

Hi Kelly,

     I don’t know if you remember me, but I was one of the people that was on the last yoga retreat that you did at Anamaya in March.  I just wanted to reach out to you to say thank you so much for everything that you have done for me.  I didn’t realize it at the time but once I got back to Canada I realized how much your yoga impacted my life.  You taught me how to love myself and you showed me that I deserve to be treated well and to be treated with kindness.

    Before I went on the retreat I was in a very unhealthy relationship with someone and they didn’t’ treat me well and I only stayed because I felt like that was how I deserved to be treated.  But once I got back I realized that I was so much better than that so I got out of that relationship and I am much happier now and I actually love myself.

 

    Not only did you do that for me but you also truly opened my eyes to the benefits of yoga and what it can do for me.  I now practice yoga every day and I am looking into becoming a yoga teacher.  If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have realized these things or made certain decisions and I just wanted to thank you because you have had a very positive impact on my life.  Thank you very much and I wish you all the best

Dear Kelly, dear Ted,

A couple of years ago I came across a saying in Spanish class:  “Caminante, no hay camino se hace camino al andar:  Roughly in translates into: “Walker, there is no path, you create your path while walking.”

I had to think a lot about this saying in the past few months, because last year kind of turned my whole world upside down.  Being here in Anamaya with you helped me a lot.  I now know for sure, that I am going to be fine or to quote Kelly, I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Your classes were loving and soothing but at the same time you pushed me to my limits and helped me to believe in myself again.

So thak you for helping me to create my path and walking a longside me for this way to short amount of time.

Kelly (and Ted),

 When I arrived at Anamaya late on Saturday and sat next to you at the dinner table, I had the strangest feeling that I already knew the both of you…as if we’d met before.   This was before I found out y’all were the yoga instructors this week!  It is now the end of the week and I still cannot shake the feeling that I’ve known you for years, maybe decades.  Maybe I have.  The cool thing is that I’m positive I’ll see you both again.  I am so grateful for all the things you’ve taught me this week…not just about Chakras and Yoga and Ayurveda, but  about the power of positive energy and laughter.  You have made a real, palpable impact on me, and I’m so delighted that our paths have crossed (again?).  Please continue to be your beautiful, awesome, hilarious, positive inquisitive, thoughtful self!  It’s inspiring to know you’re out there in the world making people feel so great every day.  I thank you from the bottom of heart.

Thank you so much for this week.  I was aware of so many subtleties in my practice and your adjustments are AWESOME!  Thank you for the reminder of being gentle with oneself and remembering your right to “have what you have” which is something I have been processing.  Thank you for your humor and sarcasm and fun.  Thank you for breaking down Ayurveda, chakras, and yoga nidra.  All things I have been exposed to but your workshops were so accessible.  And most of all, I spend most of my time working with dysfunctional couples and very depressed people.  I love my work but sometimes it is difficult to remember there are happy, healthy relationships and people who meet this world with lightness.  I will take this modeling with me to share with those who most need this light.
